The Katsina State Government on Thursday revealed its plan of boosting the staff capacity of the State Ministry of Higher, Vocational, and Technical Education, together with the Ministry of Internal Security, which it recently created.
This is just as Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, while speaking yesterday at a special dinner to commemorate his 100 days in office, said over 300 extension workers will also be recruited to enhance the capacity of Katsina farmers.
A statement by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary, CPS, of Governor Radda, noted that the comprehensive report of the 'Harmonization Committee for the Review of the Development Blueprint of Katsina State, was also unveiled at the dinner.
"I wish to use this occasion to inform you all that the recently-created Ministry for Higher, Vocational and Technical Education and that of Internal Security would attract staff from within the existing workforce in the State civil service. Again, we shall also employ additional ones to bridge the vacancy gaps in the two new Ministries.
"Also, our government will increase the number of extension workers in Katsina to over 300. This is in realization of the importance of farming to the growth of the State's economy.
"Again, the Katsina State Development Management Board, Assets Management Agency and Katsina Irrigation Authority, among other functional government parastatals in the State, will be saddled with the responsibility of providing extension services to our farmers," he said.
According to Malam Dikko Radda, his administration had succeeded in coming up with impactful socio-economic and administrative reforms, within the last 100 days.
This, he said, made it possible for the merger of some government Agencies to create new Ministries, alongside with other parastatals for effective service delivery to the people of the State.
Radda said that part of the reforms include the introduction of competency examination and test for Permanent Secretaries in the State's civil service; and passing relevant laws that ensure public officers are posted to government agencies where their services are needed.
He said: "That is why we recently conducted a staff audit to ascertain the educational background of all categories of Katsina civil servants, and their areas of specialization for appropriate placement".

Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed,
